Three years ago, MICADO was able to sell two patents to SALOMON. Now SALOMON has launched the innovative “shift binding” and with it, they cause interest all over the world.
At the beginning of December, the new touring binding from ATOMIC/SALOMON was proudly presented to the media and sports world in Annecy/France. The new binding system, which is a hybrid solution combining a ski touring binding and an alpine binding, has been engineered on the bases of the product idea of the East Tyrolean company MICADO from the beginning to the functional prototype. The COO Edwin Meindl remembers the first phone call with the Product Development Leader of ATOMIC: “Two MICADO patents met a great interest. The documents described a ski touring binding which could be used as an alpine binding as well.” With the engineering order and the acquisition of the two patent specifications on the part of ATOMIC/SALOMON group of companies the processing started. After one year of development work, the functional prototypes were ready and the project has been committed to the industrialisation team of SALOMON. “Now we are very proud to hold the finished binding in our hands,” said Meindl. Since this project, MICADO is in continuous contact with the companies ATOMIC and SALOMON.
