National award for MICADO subsidiary Cubes
Victory in the category "Digital Transformation" with innovative mould making process.
On Tuesday evening, 9 April, Minister of Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck (ÖVP) presented the National Award for Digitization for the first time at the 4Gamechangers Festival in Vienna. In the category "Digital Transformation", the award was given to CUBES GmbH from Salzburg, a subsidiary of the East Tyrolean company MICADO, whose company boss Edwin Meindl and CUBES CEO Karl Wagner accepted the award.
The jury justified their decision for CUBES as follows: "This project has completely digitized the value-added chain in the production of shape-matched and thus material-saving castings for moulded parts in the automotive and aircraft supply industry, which is important for Austria. From the offer through the 3D model to the delivered model, all work steps were digitally transformed."
In this innovative process, a specially developed material is used to produce "close-contoured blocks" for model and mould making. The digitally controlled production process reduces costs in model and mould making by up to 40 %.
